Cars for Sale in Fresno, California

Not to be outdone by its more famous neighbors (San Francisco and Los Angeles), Fresno has carved out its own niche in California. The largest inland city in California, Fresno boasts a population of a little more than 500,000 people. Fresno was born out of a station built by the Central Pacific Railroad for its Southern Pacific line in 1872. The ash leaf featured on the city's flag is a reference to the Spanish translation of Fresno, "ash tree."

As one of the lone metropolis cities in the San Joaquin Valley, Fresno stands out among the surrounding rural towns. Unlike many of these surrounding cities, Fresno's largest employers are a series of medical groups. Its location is almost ideally situated between Yosemite National Park, Sierra National Forest, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park.

In 1958, Bank of America launched the first successful credit card (which would later become Visa, Inc.) in Fresno. The city also boasts an ethnically diverse population, with almost as large a percentage of Hispanic residents as white residents. Hall of Fame guitarist Bill Aken's wrote a hit about the city in the 1970s called "Walking Into Fresno."
