Oxnard, California, incorporated in 1903, has been regarded as one of the safest cities in America. Located on the western edge of the fertile Oxnard Plain, Oxnard is a large agricultural center for strawberries and lima beans, with about a third of the nation's strawberries coming out of Oxnard. The city hosts the annual California Strawberry Festival in the summer and serves several foods with a strawberry twist to celebrate their large production of the popular fruit.

The Herzog Winery in Oxnard has the nation's largest collection of fine kosher wines. The city is also hosts the award winning Oxnard Independent Film Festival every year.

The city has a large punk music scene, as several punk bands have come out of the area, including Dr. Know, Scared Straight, and Habeas Corpus. The Oxnard Salsa Festival is a musical event that takes place at the end of every July. The city of Oxnard is served by the small, regional Oxnard Airport and the Oxnard Transportation Center.
