Cars for Sale in Colorado
When we sing about "purple mountain majesties" in the opening refrain of "America the Beautiful," we're singing about some of the majestic peaks seen across the great state of Colorado. There are mountains found across the United States, but there's something about the snow-capped mountains of Colorado that feel like a truly unique part of the American landscape. Of course, there's also nothing quite like getting behind the wheel of your car and winding and weaving your way through those breathtaking mountains on a twisty road. And if you happen to be on the road to Mt. Evans (off of Interstate 70 from Idaho Springs), it's the highest paved road in North America as it reaches 14,258 feet above sea level.
In fact, height and distance are a huge part of what makes Colorado's roads and highways and bridges so unique. For instance, the world's highest auto tunnel is the Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel (on Interstate 70 between Clear Creek and Summit counties), which was bored at an elevation of 11,000 feet under the Continental Divide and stretches for 8,000 feet. More than 26,000 vehicles traverse this tunnel daily. Oh, and the highest suspension bridge in the world? That can be found stretching over the Royal Gorge near Canon City, where it spans the Arkansas River at a height of 1,053 feet.
Of course, you'll need a car to traverse most of this. Which is fine, there are plenty of cars for sale in Colorado. In fact, the state logged about $10.61 billion in new car sales last year alone, with 1,658 dealerships active in the state. That's a heck of a lot of cars.
Just be sure not to ride your horse while under the influence in Colorado. That's against the law.
