The Subaru Legacy was last completely redesigned for the 2015 model year. Available in 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited models, the 2017 model year sees the addition of the Legacy 2.5i Sport. Base power for the Legacy sedan is generated by a 2.5L horizontally opposed (BOXER) four-cylinder with the Active Valve Control System and joined to a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic with six-speed manual mode and paddle shift control switches. The 3.6R Limited is outfitted with a 3.6L horizontally opposed BOXER six-cylinder prime mover and mated to a high-torque version of the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic with six-speed manual mode and paddle shift control switches.
