Powerfully luxurious - 2009 Lexus LX 570 SUV
Lexus introduced the all-new third-generation of its full-size LX 570 SUV last year. A multitude of technological advancements highlight the new Lexus model with significantly increased performance, new safety features and more interior room. Despite the increase in the interior volume, the new LX casts about the same footprint as its predecessor.
For 2009, the LX 570 adds a new exterior color -- Costa Azul Mica and privacy glass for the rear side windows. A newly available Luxury Package features the following: Bubinga wood trim, a Cool box, semi-aniline leather appointments, Smart Card Key and a unique wheel finish.
The 2009 LX 570 emphasizes Lexus identity with the L-finesse styling language, combining it with the muscular strength and sense of security sought in a four-wheel drive utility vehicle. Power for the new LX is produced by the 3UR-FE 5.7L V8 bolted to the AB60F six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, designed and built to handle demanding tasks with Lexus refinement. Energy is communicated to the wheels through a full-time four-wheel drive system with a Torsen limited-slip differential.
The LX 570 is not merely another pretty truck. Lexus also introduced a new Crawl Control feature for improved throttle modulation when maneuvering over rough or difficult surfaces. When the transmission is shifted into low range, Crawl Control helps maintain appropriately low speeds, making it easier for the driver to maneuver the vehicle safely. Crawl Control also actuates a set of virtual locking differentials to minimize tire slippage and optimize chassis behavior.
Under its new styling, the LX 570 rides on a more capable chassis and suspension system. A four-eheel electro-hydraulic suspension with Active Height Control (AHC) and Adaptive Variable-air suspension reacts more quickly and allows for a greater range of adjustment than the system it replaces. The new control hardware helps improve on-road handling by reducing chassis roll by more than 30 percent. In addition, the LX 570 now rides on 285/50R20 tires.
Inside the cabin, occupants enjoy the pleasures that only a Lexus can provide. With an increase in wheelbase of four inches and width by an inch over the previous model, the result is an even more inviting and comfortable space for up to eight occupants and their cargo.
The LX interior is utterly luxurious and Lexus quiet. A sample of standard luxury amenities: four-zone independent climate control, a power-sliding second-row seat with a 40/20/40 split, an optional power third row seat, voice-activated HDD navigation system with Bluetooth capability, a nine-speaker premium audio system and front-seat power-seat cushion extenders.
Standard XM Satellite radio capability includes XM Nav Traffic, a real-time traffic information service that provides driver alerts for accidents, road closings and traffic jams.
