Seductively elegant - 2010 Infiniti EX35 crossover
Introduced in 2008, the all-new EX35 is described by the automaker as a "coupe-inspired luxury crossover design". This fusion of a coupe and sport utility vehicle is designed for personal use with an emphasis on user friendliness and easy of driving operation.
The EX35 showcases two innovative systems: Around View Monitor (AVM) which utilizes four small front, side and rear-mounted cameras to give the driver a "top-down view" of the outside of the vehicle and help reduce blind spots when parking; and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), which takes the automaker's Lane Departure Warning System into a new dimension of safety by actively using the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system to help assist the driver in maintaining lane position if the vehicle inadvertently starts to drift out of the intended lane. Additionally, the EX35 also becomes the first Infiniti vehicle to feature "Scratch Shield", a special "self-healing" clearcoat paint.
Available in front- or intelligent all-wheel drive configurations, the EX35 is powered by a 4th-generation VQ35HR 3.5L V6 engine and mated to a sophisticated five-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, DS sport mode and Downshift Rev Matching.
The EX35 rides on the automaker's acclaimed FM (Front Midship) platform and features a four-wheel independent suspension. Up front, subframe-mounted double wishbone control hardware includes aluminum-alloy upper and lower links, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar. At the rear, multi-link control hardware works with aluminum-alloy upper and lower links and axle housing, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar. The result is a vehicle that emphasizes an exhilarating driving experience.
Inside the cabin was designed to offer occupants a reinvigorating and engaging environment, one that is both indulgent and inspiring. The driver-focused "wave-inspired" interior layout features an Infiniti signature "double-wave" instrument panel, easy-to-read high-contrast gauges with white-and-violet illumination and hospitality lighting with a pin LED light mounted over the center console and Infiniti-signature analog clock.
The instrument panel also features a 7-inch color display with Infiniti controller for the trip computer and additional vehicle information, including the available Infiniti Hard Disk based Navigation System with a 9.3GB Music Box hard drive for music storage and playback.
Access to the cargo area is through a wide rear hatch. The low load floor makes it a versatile performer for everyday and weekend use. The standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback adds to the utility of the passenger cabin.
Changes to the EX for 2010 are largely confined to features and option packages. The upgrades and revisions include revised option package selection and content, including the addition of Around View Monitor to the Bose® and Around View Monitor Package; the availability of navigation as a stand-alone package (previously part of Bose® and Navigation Package); a newly available Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS); addition of 2GB Music Box hard drive to the Bose® Premium Audio system on vehicles without the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation system; and the addition of Bluetooth® Streaming Audio, XM NavWeather® and Zagat® Restaurant Guide features to the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation system (XM® subscription required, sold separately).
The following features are now standard on the EX for 2010: heated outside mirrors, automatic headlights, and a USB Connection Port with Infiniti Interface System for iPod®. The EX35 AWD adds standard heated front seats and the EX Journey receives standard Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System
