Style, refinement & functionality: 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan
The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the minivan as one of the leading innovators in the segment created back in late 1983. Available in Touring, S, Touring-L and Limited trim levels, power for the Town & Country is generated by a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 engine. Torque is communicated to the street through a 62TE six-speed automatic transmission.
The new-for-2014 Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition features unique exterior and interior trim in addition to its already extensive list of standard equipment. The 30th Anniversary Edition is based on the Touring-L model and features unique exterior and interior content. Exterior features on the 30th Anniversary Edition include 17-inch aluminum wheels with polished faces and painted Satin Carbon pockets, “30th Anniversary” badge and the availability of Granite Crystal Pearl Coat paint.
The luxuriously appointed interior features black Alcantara seat inserts with Nappa seat bolsters, piano black steering wheel bezels and instrument panel trim, third-row power folding seats, power folding mirrors, a 30th Anniversary logo in the gauge cluster and touch screen radio splash screen, a 30th Anniversary logo on the key fob and Light Graystone lower instrument panel, Super Center Console, door armrest stitching and door panels. The 30th Anniversary Edition also comes standard with the Driver’s Convenience Group that features heated first- and second-row seating, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, Keyless Enter-N-Go and bright door handles.
Available in unique Granite Crystal Pearl Coat paint, the Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition is also available in Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat, Cashmere Pearl Coat, Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat or True Blue Pearl Coat.
The 2014 Town & Country S gets revised trim that adds contrast to the minivan’s typically bright exterior treatment. A black chrome grille is combined with black-background Chrysler Winged badges front and rear, a black rear fascia step pad, “S” model badging, 17-inch aluminum wheels with polished face and black-painted pockets and blacked-out headlight bezels. The Town & Country S also features a performance suspension that adds an unexpected level of handling dynamics to the driving experience, yet still provides a comfortable ride that’s expected in a luxury minivan. Available exterior colors for the Town & Country S include Bright White Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Metallic Coat, Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat or Billet Silver Metallic Coat.
Inside the passenger cabin, a sleek one-piece instrument panel is crafted with premium materials and is intuitive for the customer with good ergonomics and large, beautifully designed gauges. The center stack console was designed with the customer in mind, offering good ergonomics with premium materials and a pleasing appearance. An available super center console provides clever functionality and storage for CDs, DVDs, notepad and wallet and integrated power outlets, as well as easy driver/passenger access with a pass-through storage space for larger items, like a purse. Trim rings in the console glow an ambient blue-green color, which allows passengers to find the items they are looking for at night. Premium seating materials and soft touch door trim panels offer passengers the comforts of home.
The steering wheel features integrated controls for audio, navigation and speed control; the gated shifter shifts smoothly into gear; a minivan-first heated steering wheel option; a more luxurious Quad seating option is also available for first- and second-row passengers.
The Town & Country S trim features a unique monotone black interior. It starts with the Black Torino leather seats with an “S” logo embroidered in the seat backs and black Ballistic cloth seat inserts. The seats also feature grey stitching as do the door armrests. Piano black gloss appliques are found on the instrument panel and on the spokes of the black leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the Chrysler Winged badge on the wheel matches the black background-look of the exterior badging. Finishing interior touches include a black headliner and upper consoles, black center console and an “S” logo in the instrument cluster.
