Successful recipe - 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXi sedan
With a "one-price" package including many premium amenities such as a leather-trimmed interior with eight-way power driver seat, 15-inch aluminum wheels, premium sound system and a powerful six-cylinder engine, the front-drive Chrysler Cirrus LXi is one of the most complete mid-size sedans in today's market. Its blend of elegant style, roominess, value and improving quality provides budget-minded consumers with personal luxury with a dash of performance.
Built at DaimlerChrysler's Sterling Heights Assembly plant in Michigan, the Chrysler Cirrus is available as a sedan in LXi trim. The sole drivetrain is a Mitsubishi built 2.5L SOHC 24-valve V-6 meshed with a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
A revised instrument cluster with improved graphics was introduced for the 1999 model year. In positioning the small Chrysler in the marketplace, the automaker has taken a cue from the Japanese, packing the sedan full of value. Standard features include air conditioning, leather trimmed interior with power driver's seat (a no-cost option), AM/FM stereo with cassette, tilt steering column, electronic speed control and power windows, locks, and mirrors.
On the road, the Cirrus sedan excels at one thing: high speed handling. Equipped with P195/65R15 tires and speed-sensitive steering, this sedan is sure and stable when pushed. Body lean in hard corners is minimal. Improved suspension tuning improves ride control while reducing harshness. Robust rail-through construction and a modified double-wishbone suspension provide exceptional performance, ride and handling characteristics.
Inside the cabin, driver ergonomics are excellent. Displays and controls win kudos for placement, readability and usefulness. The leather seating is very comfortable with a good center armrest that yields a deep storage bin. Rear seat passengers have a decent amount of leg room. The single piece fold-down rear seat is a plus.
